Exploring the Third Dimension: The Next Frontier in Tile Design

Contemporary tile production has reached a point where artistic expression is limitless. As consumers demand authenticity in sustainable products, ceramic tile products are increasingly being designed for the tactile experience as much as the visual. 3D tiles abound, but perhaps none are more exciting than ceramic and porcelain tile products that mimic natural materials with exquisite precision.

Visual Touch™ Technology

Marblique porcelain tile in Blended Deco

Bringing life to tile design with rich, textural realism is a revolutionary new manufacturing process called  Visual Touch™ technology. As the name implies, Visual Touch is not just about visuals; tiles with this technology offer unparalleled accuracy – both in appearance and tactile sensation.

Visual Touch’s state-of-the-art technology produces materials with hyper-realistic outcomes and superior technical and aesthetic qualities. Thanks to a perfect synchrony between graphic design and structure, the digital printing process generates a deep, three-dimensional effect that looks and feels exactly like natural materials such as wood, stone, and marble.

Crossville’s® Marblique™ Porcelain Tile with Visual Touch Technology

Marblique porcelain tile in Invisible Grey

Our first foray into this technology was with our recently launched Marblique™ porcelain tile produced in partnership with Del Conca, a renowned Italian ceramic and tile manufacturer. Marblique offers breathtaking marble visuals and textures, replicating every detail, including quarry markings and veining, to perfection. The nuanced textures of acid etching, brushing, and bush-hammering seamlessly integrate with the tiles. This combination of authenticity and porcelain durability elevates surfacing materials to new heights of luxury.

Sustainability Benefits of Porcelain Look-Alikes

When you specify porcelain tile, you can feel good about not depleting a non-renewable resource. Additionally, the manufacturing processes required to extract and process these natural materials harm the environment. The environmental impact of extracting granite and marble is irreversible, particularly regarding water and air pollution. You can learn more about Crossville’s sustainability iniatives here.

More to Come!

Stay tuned! We’re working on more new products that feature this technology that produces an exceptionally realistic and natural appearance and feel.
