GivingTuesday is now a tradition that comes on the heels of the shopping frenzy of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Happening each year on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement encouraging people to do good through donations and acts of service. As many nonprofit organizations have been dramatically impacted current events, GivingTuesday provides an easy opportunity for charities to receive much needed financial funding.
This year on GivingTuesday, we invite you to consider making a donation to The Common Thread for the Cure (CTFTC), the nonprofit organization we contribute to year-round. The Common Thread for the Cure supports individuals in the furnishings and design industries who’re fighting breast cancer by providing Helping Hands Grants to aid families in ways insurance does not apply. For example, a grant can be used to meet day-to-day financial obligations, household needs, or transportation to medical appointments. The intent is to enhance the quality of life for those who have breast cancer, enabling them to maintain as normal a lifestyle as possible while they are confronting the disease.
Our company has been a longtime supporter of CTFTC because the design community is our community. However, in recent days, the cause has really hit home within our Crossville family. Crossville A&D representative Sasha Ikovic is a breast cancer survivor who received much needed support from the organization and now serves on its board.
Last year, Sasha’s friend who is a two-time breast cancer survivor asked Sasha to help her train for the LA BIG 5k run. Her friend said that she needed to do something to feel victorious. Sasha had no idea at that time that she herself had breast cancer, as well. She and her friend crossed the finish line, and, now, Sasha realizes that The Common Thread for the Cure Foundation helps those in need cross the finish line to good health. Today, serving as Crossville’s representative on the board, Sasha is giving back to the community that helped her when she needed it most.
With her personal perspective, Sasha shares the importance of CTFTC’s focus on breast cancer.
– 1 in 8 women will be affected; that means we all know or will know someone with a diagnosis.
– Men afflicted with breast cancer often don’t know until later stages.
– One person’s diagnosis often impacts entire families and communities.
Your donation on GivingTuesday (or any day of the year) will directly provide practical support to individuals in the furnishings and design industries fighting breast cancer
Another way to help is by specifying Crossville’s Convergence or Glass Blox lines for your next project. Every month of the year, we contribute a portion of proceeds from these two products to The Common Thread for a Cure. Both lines are beautiful, versatile and, in selecting them, you are making a charitable contribution to families when they need it most.
We hope you join us in supporting this cause. For more information about The Common Thread for the Cure, please visit www.commonthreadforthecure.org.
