Carbon Neutral Products
In 2023, we announced our carbon-reduction goals and introduced our first carbon-neutral products, Native Metal™ and Civilization™ porcelain floor and wall tile. Since then, we have increased our carbon-neutral lineup to include three new products: Beljn™, Argent 2.0™ and Argent 2.5 porcelain tile collections. Beljn won Metropolis Magazine’s prestigious Planet Positive Award.
These porcelain products are carbon neutral through measuring embodied carbon (EPD), committing to reducing carbon across the entire product lifecycle, and purchasing verified carbon credits to offset the emissions that we cannot immediately eliminate.

About Carbon Credits
The carbon credits offset the embodied carbon from raw material sourcing, transportation of those materials to our plants, producing the product, as well as the emissions associated with the operational use and end of life. Because we consider the carbon footprint of our porcelain tiles from inception through demolition, recycling, or destruction, our carbon credits do more for the embodied carbon in built environments.
As we learn and grow, our sights are set on reducing the carbon footprint of all our manufactured products, and as we make further changes to our manufacturing process, the less we will need to rely on carbon offsets to do the good we know is possible.
LEED Credits
Recycled Content
This year, we are pleased to announce that we have increased the percentage of pre-consumer recycled content in many of the porcelain products that we manufacture right here in Tennessee. Recycled content is a LEED metric designed to increase demand for building products that have incorporated these materials and can add up to two points. View our recycled content by series or color here.
Regional Credit Multiplier
Crossville can also contribute to the new LEED V4/4.1 regional credit multiplier. This credit provides products sourced (extracted, manufactured, and purchased) within 100 miles of the project site to be valued at twice their base contributing cost, up to a maximum of 200% of cost. This applies to the EPD, sourcing of raw materials, and material ingredient credits. If a project is within 100 miles of Crossville’s Tennessee-based factory – zip code 38555 – your project may qualify for this increased contribution.

Crossville is a Net Consumer of Waste
Making less waste and finding innovative ways to use byproducts and second-grade materials are at the heart of Crossville’s sustainability efforts. In addition to incorporating recycled content into our tile products, we
- Filter and recirculate wastewater through our plants to reduce water consumption.
- Recycle all cardboard in manufacturing facilities.
- Recycle unfired and fired scrap tile back into first-grade products.
We’re so good at managing the waste we create that we are a net consumer of waste, meaning we use more waste than we actively produce.
Crossville Tile is the Sustainable Alternative to Natural Stone
And last, but certainly not least, our tile is as beautiful as it is sustainable. Crossville customers expect on-trend, technologically advanced products, and we deliver with luxurious collections that mimic natural stones, wood, cement, and more. Made from natural raw materials, our manufactured tile collections offer the visual and tactile allure of these materials without the environmental impacts. While we admit that all ceramic tile is inherently green, Crossville goes further by starting with sourcing and continuing until the final product stage.
Surface Smarter with Tile
Whether you’re designing a home, a business, or an outdoor space, tile offers a planet-friendly foundation that supports greener living — today and for years to come.
