Crossville Collections Add Stunning Contrast to Denise McGaha’s Spa-Like Master Bath Remodel

May 23, 2019

Denise McGaha Interiors is an award-winning, luxury design firm based in Dallas, Texas. Denise and her team’s projects are regularly featured in the nation’s top shelter publications, including Traditional Home, House Beautiful, and D Home. Recently, Denise’s work earned a cover story in Luxe Magazine that showcased a stunning remodel of the master bathroom in Denise’s personal residence in Dallas. The dramatically transformed bathroom features premium materials and fixtures, wallpaper and fabric from Denise’s signature collection, and an amazing steam shower (a surprise for her husband, Scott). As for the floor and wall surfacing, we’re honored that Denise turned to Crossville for selections that played a foundational role in this extraordinary space!

Some of Denise’s primary goals for the renovation were to create a space that promoted health and wellness in a spa-like environment, provide better cabinet storage, and replace the old walk-in shower with a glassed-in model. Her design vision was to create a space that would be both exciting and classic. Crossville collections offered an ideal solution!

For the main floor and shower walls, Denise chose our State of Grace marble-look, 12”x24” tiles in an unpolished finish. The collection offers a truly timeless, bright look that aligned with the “classic” in Denise’s design vision. However, unlike real marble, this collection provides unparalleled durability that far exceeds the natural material that it inspired its style. With skilled installation, the grout lines are nearly imperceptible.

Our Yin+Yang 1”x 3” mosaic in deep, rich Black Dragon offers a contrasting hue and modern shape on the shower floor, shower ceiling (such a dramatic effect!), and closet. With the mosaic cut, the tile has ample grout line to provide safety underfoot in the shower’s wet environment. Interestingly, Denise had previously specified this collection for her powder room design in the first annual Southern Style Now-Traditional Home Showhouse in New Orleans.

The combination of the bright marble look and the dark tone achieved that bold yet classic aesthetic Denise was seeking.

An important addition to the remodel was a steam unit that Denise was able to keep secret from her husband during the entire remodel process. The former bathroom had a walk-in shower without a door that not only made the room small and the shower dark, but Denise says they “froze to death in the winter while showering.” The new steam shower has a rainhead and features aromatherapy for allergies and relaxation.

Denise noted in her blog that the remodel was “so much more than just creating a beautiful bath.” The space is now a place to “retreat from the world, relax, rejuvenate and find peace.”

There is no doubt that Denise achieved her goals with this magazine cover-worthy space!
