Private Residence in Texas
Cypress, Texas | February 10, 2023
Retired homeowners needed an updated space that merged their prized art and collectibles with a more modern design. Wanting to renovate their 20-year-old home in Cypress, Texas, the focus on the primary bathroom was to create a glamorous space that fit the homeowner’s whimsical and artistic personalities. Since the homeowners are avid art collectors, they wanted each space to have its own unique character.
The team quickly coined the primary bath as the “jewelry box” of the home because of its luxurious selections – from the shimmery mirrored Crossville Sideview Glass tiled wall, crystal vanity lights, and stunning aquamarine granite countertop. Designed to make a statement, the smokey grey finish of the glass mosaic wall tile in the Tungsten colorway adds depth and reflects the beautiful blues and greens of the exotic granite vanity countertop.
Crossville’s Sideview Glass mosaic wall tiles offer richly faceted metallics that reflect eye-catching style from every angle. These glass mosaics can serve as stunning showpieces or sparkling accents, bringing a brilliantly modern take on razzle-dazzle and a touch of art deco grandeur. In addition to providing glamour to the room, the mirrored sliding closet doors and reflective mosaic tiles create the illusion of a larger floor plan. The bathroom previously housed a tub that was removed and converted into a walk-in shower. This addition streamlined the space, allowing a larger shower area and easier access to the closet.
“It has the glitz and glamour we were after while being perfectly imperfect in its irregular shape. The metallic reflectiveness was also great for making a smaller space appear larger. Its polished finish, paired with the full-length wall mirror, created the visual that the room was larger than it really is,” explained Peggy Fuller, owner of By Design Interiors.
