Crossville’s Bluestone Enhances a New Veterinary Hospital

March 12, 2019

One mile from the intercoastal waterway at Atlantic Beach, a beautiful, new veterinary clinic serves the needs of companion animals and their families in the Jacksonville, Florida area. In collaboration with Animal Arts, a Boulder, Colorado animal care facility architecture firm, the design team from Jacksonville’s Micamy Design Studio knocked it out of the park when it came to designing and specifying the interior spaces of this 9,800 square foot, state-of-the-art animal hospital.

The familiar adage, “You never get a second chance to make a great first impression,” is especially applicable when it comes to commercial facilities that are open to the public, and the reception area at Pablo River Veterinary Hospital does not disappoint. The space is filled with natural light to enhance a sense of calm and well-being, with natural stone and unfinished pecky cypress accents bringing another nurturing connection to the outdoors into the interior.

Specifying enduring, low-maintenance porcelain tiles for the flooring in a setting like this was likely a no-brainer for the design team. Commercial-grade porcelain is exceptionally durable and sanitary; it’s also stain, mold, and mildew resistant, it’s easy to clean, and lasts for years and years. And with no VOCs, it’s undoubtedly the healthy choice to enhance indoor air quality for the furry patients, their owners, and the veterinary staff as well.

For the flooring throughout the facility, the Micamy team turned to Crossville’s Bluestone porcelain tile line. With subtle shell-like glints and fossil-inspired impressions, Bluestone looks like its namesake and perfectly complements the nature-inspired design scheme. The Pennsylvania Blue color was the perfect choice to complete the cohesive design and enhance the sense of calm invoked by all the carefully chosen design elements.
