International Masonry Institute Seminars National Tour
In 2017, the International Masonry Institute (IMI) led a national tour of tile seminars and demonstrations targeting design professionals and union tile contractors in nine U.S. cities. IMI is a strategic alliance between the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers and the contractors who employ those members. Crossville joined with other industry partners on this tour to educate a varied audience of architects, interior designers, and tile contractors as well as general contractors, construction managers, building owners, and public agencies.
Michael Granatowski of Mapei, Noah Chitty of Crossville, and Jim Whitfield of Mapei presented on the new Gauged Porcelain Tile ANSI standards.
The program content focused on hot topics in the industry like the newly-passed ANSI standards on Gauged Porcelain Tile Panels (GPTP), and the installation of this revolutionary material that designers are specifying with increased regularity. Noah was an integral member of the team that developed the new ANSI standard, and he shared his technical expertise and knowledge on the increasingly important requirement of installations for GPTP products.
ISO/TC Meeting, Guangzhou, China
In December 2017, Crossville served a core role on the ISO/TC 189 committee that is dedicated to setting and maintaining standards for ceramic tile at the global level. The ISO (International Organization for Standardization) Technical Committee develops standards for ceramic tiles and related installation materials, including grouts, adhesives, and membranes. These standards include test methods, definitions, specifications, and classifications which serve to unify the global industry and facilitate international trade.
With a membership of delegates from approximately 50 countries, the Committee represents the diverse interests of the ceramic tile industry worldwide. On behalf of Crossville, Noah attended the annual meeting of this important, guiding body for the international industry. Having representation on this committee and other industry organizations helps us lead in excellence.

Qualicor 2018, Castellón, Spain
In February 2018, over 620 international tile professionals gathered in Castellon Spain for Qualicer ’18. This important forum is the 15th world congress on ceramic tile quality and installation.
Qualicer originated in 1990 when the Castellón Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Navigation, and the College of Industrial Engineers joined in creating an event exclusively dedicated to the ceramic tile sector. What began as a modest forum for debate on tile as a product has become a world congress on ceramic tile quality. The forum also addresses the quality of the product and the process, tile installation, and every element involved in the complex network of the ceramic business world. Here again, Crossville was proudly represented by our technical expert, Noah Chitty, who discussed the new ANSI A137.3 and 108.19 standard.
