Crossville–and our gauged porcelain tile panels–were top of mind for Baton Rouge, LA interior designer Arianne Bellizaire as she planned her kitchen vignette for Perlick’s Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS) booth. Arianne recalled learning of our unique, lean profile tile panels and was intrigued by their design possibilities. Ever on the leading edge of interior fashion, Arianne knew these products aligned with the modern trends she aimed to represent in her showcase KBIS kitchen.
The results of her vision and creative application of our gauged porcelain tile panels proved to be sophisticated, stunning, and an excellent demonstration of just how these innovative products can bring both function and fashion to residential kitchen design. The results also beautifully support the trend stories Arianne infused into her beautifully designed space.
Arianne called her design “The Bold & The Beautiful” because she sought to bring drama, glamor, and tension back to kitchen design. Here’s a look at the bold residential kitchen design trends Arianne artfully integrated into her KBIS kitchen vignette.
- More dramatic, darker colors in the kitchen: While Arianne acknowledged that white kitchens are timeless and beloved, she noted that homeowners are ready to think beyond the “resale value” of safer choices. We’re entering an era in which kitchen design is better reflecting homeowners’ distinct styles and personalities. This kitchen vignette incorporated darker, more masculine tones throughout, including the rich hues of the Crossville gauged porcelain tile panels on backsplash and countertops. Arianne brought in white drawer facings to soften the look and give a nod to the perpetually black & white colorway.
- Gold holds favor: Arianne’s vignette unabashedly showcased today’s popular gold tones. From the finish of hardware and lighting to the flaxen hue of the color-blocking effect of the backsplash with our gauged porcelain tile panels, gold, brass, and warmer metal finishes remain securely in the top spot for professional designers and homeowners alike.
- The backsplash is on the frontline of fashion: Arianne’s design epitomized how the utilitarian backsplash can be as fashionable as it is functional. With our gauged tile panels as her medium, she created art on the walls with dramatic, large scale color blocking. The backsplash-as-focal-point is a longtime trend that’s here to stay.
- Statement lighting, a bright idea: With an eye-catching Currey & Co. chandelier and mood-inducing sconce lighting, Arianne designed her space to convey that kitchen lighting should make a statement. While good lighting in the kitchen is essential to make cooking, completing tasks, and gathering more simple and enjoyable, the choices of illumination are a great way to accent the overall design and serve as conversation pieces that inspire and delight.
- Smart technology: Our kitchens are getting smarter, and Arianne didn’t shy away from the high tech innovations that are integrated into appliances. Her kitchen vignette demonstrated the ‘art’ of smart technology as it melded almost futuristic elements –a Zephyr rangehood that looks like a flat panel television and newly launched Perlick appliances–into the overall design that’s thoroughly modern yet classically appealing.
